A deserved lead at half time, mostly scrappy but actual genuine passing and progression up the pitch and chances being created. (How bad was Jackson though in this half?!) 2nd half, Preston stepped it up a bit but we were still in control and relatively untroubled. Then - with time to clear/ pass back to Nicholls/ Row Z it - Matos did a massive brain fart, miscontrolled and gave away the penalty. It was soft but was a penalty. We battled, but with less heart, and looked deflated after this point, back to the familiar can't pass 5 yards. Conceded a second and with our confidence as fragile as it is, it was only going to go one way after that. An agonising, frustrating watch. Lots of work to do: a) before Saturday b) at season end, where - regardless of the league we're in - we need a massive clear out and immaculate recruitment. I thought first half we looked good all things considered, you forget all that due the appalling second half but it does suggest they're completely devoid of confidence. Took a master motivator last season to sort them out. Wasn't a pen imo, the type of contact meant it wasn't a foul, I'd like get an expert opinion on it but of course nobody cares, it's only town. Probably not even been discussed. If that was a penalty then there should be a League enquiry as to why Town haven't been awarded one at home for about 3 fucking seasons or more. That Preston coont was actually off the floor, knees tucked together, hoping that Matos was close enough to chuck himself over before Matos actually got near him.

Wasnt a pen. Not sure about the one later on though. But it was crap that we even gave him the chance to go down like that.

Can't fault Burgzorg for his reaction when he went over to the fans. He was showing respect and just expected them to show some back. He is on loan with us but still feels he wants to engage with fans which is laudable. I know how we feel after defeats, especially with 3 late goals in a critical game, but people really need to get a sense of proportion. How do they expect players to want to do their best for us when they get that sort of treatment?

After 13 games, Sheffield Wednesday had 3 points. At the time I told the ex father-in-law that I had no idea about who would stay up and who would be relegated, but Wednesday would finish above us. He thought I was puddled, but (sad to say) I think I'll be right. Pathetic. Looking more and more like the case. Absolutely pathetic.
