No one has any idea what’s gone on behind the scenes, perhaps we had a offer accepted or perhaps we didn’t. Let’s move on. We all know Brum would’ve our main challenges both on and off the pitch

Damn. It was all going a bit too well so far. Not good going for targets and losing out to Brum. Not a good look for further signings this summer. That said he was the wrong age really. I always fear injury with over 28’s.

Brum fans will be pissing themselves seeing the meltdown on here from some folk (just as we would if roles were reversed).
If what’s believed, it will be 1 or 2-0 to them in the psychological battle at least.

Healey will come good if and only if he stays fit.So M.D needs to coach our lot the simple tactic of getting the ball to the strikers to score more goals, simples🫣

Go all out to get Langstaff now Afraid this would never happen. Langstaff will be going to the Championship with several clubs bidding as we speak. I’m afraid those ‘lower league’ guaranteed goals may be out of our reach for now. * May * Langstaff * Bishop - not happening

It’s a good job ‘Darren’ had some technical issues on Friday or we would have been announcing a bloke that we hadn’t actually completed the deal on, eh E4b?

Going to do some proper bedwetting now. But if lost out on him it is fucking shocking by the club.

I too think Healy is decent and will do well this season if stays fit. No panic required. ✌️

I'm sorry Town, but you really couldn't run a bath when it comes down to it. Look, i realise other clubs will be interested, but the deal dragged on so long, it basically just invited everyone else to have a look, particularly as is obvious our main rivals. Maybe just maybe, one day we'll stop being such sodding misers over what was slightly over 3% more than we offered. Sure maybe things do just drag on, but surely there's ways of moving things quicker? Look it can take months to buy a house, but some folks get the whole shebang done and dusted in a month. Ways and bloody means spring to mind.

If Birmingham want to overspend that's up to them. If the lad just chases money (it's his last payday after all) rather than wanting to work with the guy that 'made him' that's up to him too.
I'm pretty calm tbh I think there are better options out there anyway and that's not sour grapes it's the truth.

Duff knew what he was going to get with May, so i can see the reasoning. I do agree in terms of aget and potential there are far better options.

The lad could do his ligaments in his first game and be out for the season. It doesn’t really matter if his heart wasn’t in coming to Town. We’ve been here before.
Plus throwing money at things doesn’t guarantee promotion. A team spirit, heart, effort and togetherness gives you far more.

If anything, it's embarrassing from Birmingham and shows they are desperate. His stats were great last season, but nobody knows if they would be replicated here. As long as Cartwright has another lined up, I'm not that bothered.

I'm hoping we'll still get lots of business done in the next two weeks. It's vital we get as many of the new lads joining in pre season training, camps and games as we can.

The only 2 issues I can see with not signing May are:
1 - Perception- Everyone is saying Birmingham are the Man City of the league. The question that raises is how far behind are we?
2 - We have potentially wasted time on trying to secure this deal. Irrespective of what we think it's never ideal when failing to secure your no1 target. However worse is you naturally move back to square one.

The most important thing is the ambition you eluded to in the recent past, ie the return to the Championship is the priority hasn't changed (I don't sense it has at all).

Personally I'd rather try and find someone who may not be a 'guarantee' of goals for the next 12 months but may instead be able to grow into the championship in the next few seasons.

Surprised we haven’t got Alfie esp after Rudoni sale, would have thought we had some head room in wages and fee.
I can understand Birmingham wanting to get him and take away a tried and tested goal scorer from a rival. Fans might night like to hear it but Alfie might of seen serious intent to get promoted and backed a winner by signing for Brum.
From what we’ve seen in last 12 months from the transfers under this senior team, we struggle to do much outside the world of Beswick Sports.
Tough one

Wasn't convinced by May.... Seemed a lot of money and wages for someone essentially on their last contract. If Birmingham are willing to burn more money than we were then more fool them.

By the sounds of it his heart was with us, but he’d be daft not to take a 3 year contract on silly wages at his age. I certainly would. Onto the next…

A shame but can't blame the club on this one. As others have said we'd agreed the fee
As for May, I actually understand why he's done it as well. 3 year deal on £500k a year really sets him for the rest of his life and he'll be 34 when that contract runs out so I understand why he's cashed in. Football is fickle and while he may have a great working relationship with Duff there's no guarantee Duff won't get sacked in 6 months or leave for a bigger job and then he may be playing for a manager who doesn't fancy him. He's then blown his pay day for what?
Brum throwing money at it doesn't guarantee success - it took three seasons for Dean Hoyle to get promoted despite throwing a lot of money at it and signing players like Rhodes, Ward, Pilkington for very big fees
I would have liked May but understand why it's not happened
