Poor Kev. As one of his teams starts to improve the other one starts to flounder. 1 win in 8 for them now dropping from 2nd place to 5th place entering the playoffs (which gives them a tricky away tie). Interesting they mention DC as well. Below taken from their FB page "Briggs isnt the issue... This comes from the top. Nagel stopped caring about this team when he bought his english team Huddlesfield town and enlisted his hack job Carmichael dave to plug how great he is. #selltheteam" Weird that. When he first took over at Town some Town fans were saying the exact opposite and he was going to use Town to get Sac good players on loan

Just as an aside to the development discussion... I've just come back from Tirana in Albania, where e few years ago they built an extra ordinary national stadium with a capacity of 24,000...It's free to simply walk in and have a meal or a drink...the retaurants are open all day and have tables chairs on the concourses overlooking the pitch...it's all seater with concessions in the the other concourses (like MKDons). It also has a 40 storey Marriot Hotel in one corner and the entire exterior is lit up in red, or blue...but outside the stadium (or should I say underneath the lower seating areas) are a multitude of bars. restaurants, shops etc...the place is alive, every day..buzzing..it is truly amazing , for me anyway...the staff are polite and courtious..the prices very competetive for both food and drink..and I just thought wow, this is the future for foortball stadiums. Granted it's near the city centre but Tirana doesn't have a massive population.. UEFA also have offices there.. The paved areas outside are great covered eating/drinking areas..some have heating for colder weather... Seperately I noticed the 'local' Tirana football team play in blue and white stripes !!

Think you shot yourself in your foot with that link.....
2023 ranked 98 out of 180 (mid range)...and a score of 37 when the overall average was 43..so again mid range..?
Next ?..can we have the 'perceptions' for Kirklees Council too......perceptions is along way from factual evidence...but..I'm not saying there isn't some local govt back handers going on..but show me a place where that never happens... Tirana has a phenomenal amount of construction going on, cranes everywhere mainly apartment blocks but also the giratory link to the east...plus airport expansion and , listen to this...ZERO CRIME...

Typical that the Tories chose this lot to do a deal with on Immigrants. Funny that because Italy had an agreement too, even built the 'holding' areas, erected offices for processing the claims, and with a week to go before the first migrants were due to be shipped over the Italian courts rules it illegal...putting a stop to the whole thing..for now anyway as the Italian Govt are to lodge an appeal, of course.

Pleased he’s looking to redevelop around the ground, but housing? Seriously!? Depends exactly what sort of housing. If for young people who either commute to Leeds or Manchester or work in business in town especially the new health campus and have spare cash and if there is stuff built around the ground bars restaurants etc hopefully this will bring in extra revenue. There's housing built all round places like city which a lot is new. The post someone put up re Albania stadium being used all week for various things is potentially the way forward for clubs and towns like ours. What's gone before has not really worked so we have to try a new direction of travel. Don't get me wrong kev will make a tidy sum too but if it benefits everyone then why not

Apols for taking the thread off on a tangent, but did you enjoy Albania? Heard a few reports from people that have been and raved about it. I'll answer, at the risk of doing what I complain about..off topic comments.... Given the Ruskies didn't leave 'til 1990, and like 1m of the population had cleared off, leaving less than 3m now...you can imagine the state of the place 30 years ago...and it's reputation. Folk mix up politicians from ordinary folk, classing them as all the same...they're not. We received nothing but kindness and help when needed..volunteered..it's safe, feels safe, no bother at all. Tirana has about 30 massive building projects and the high rises are super modern and futuristic in shape and design. It was about 26c every day during the 2 weeks I was there. The place is alive, especially at night with bars , restaurants, parks etc all full of noise , music, laughter..no drunkenness or arguing. Loads to see, underground bunkers, theatre, museums, parks, lakes, mountains, cable car...various historical areas to visit..it's clean, tidy and fun. We went by bus to Berat in the south, and took the cable car up to the east side..also got taxi to visit beautiful lakes. The down sides are public transport outside of the city...it's random, and seems chaotic but it's cheap and fun. No trains..but taxis by the score (some are pricey). Goods and prices are regulated by the govt so no rip off tourist prices. I've mention the national stadium but just meandering around the side streets was great...really alive. There's scruffy areas as you go out of the city, as you'd expect..a bit like Morocco ..Ryanair fly there, our plane was packed both ways...the airport is a bit chaotic too..The religious tolerance is a lesson for all, side by side, mosque next to church..no probs...the call to prayer broadcast 5 times a day is hauntingly beautiful...Mother Theresa was born here and has a church dedicated to her.. We didn't do the coast as it looked a bit like Costa del Sol (not our cuppa). They use the Lek but also accept Euros (notes only)..take notes with you as all ATM's charge about £6.. A week is probably enough to do Tirana...more if you want to go out into the sticks or do some climbing.. and to reign this back on topic..super new stadium and plenty of blue and white striped football shirts available...

To have documented corruption requires successful prosecution data, therefore perception is the more accurate. I tried to start a business in Bulgaria many years ago and I couldn't get anything done. I was working with a Bulgarian employee of mine so no language problems, but he told I should have paid people person x & y. No mention of a fee on the form when you read the process for me, was my reply! Cash in cafés & restaurants etc. very few card payments, unlike here, therefore grey market economy. I was told by my accountant that I had to pay for an annual company re-registration or the company would be fined, but when I didn't pay him the fee, guess what, no fine! If it's endemic, nobody is prosecuted!

It's true it's mainly a cash only society, especially small shops/markets...I didn't get involved in any business transactions (taxi's, hotels excepted) so have no idea about that side. As I've said earlier, there will be an element like every other country...like paying cops in Morocco for an 'infringement' at a roundabout..cash..no paperwork...the you get your passport back....happened a lot...

Ignoring the biased/prejudiced/racist views of the others and getting back to what I think was your main point, that’s exactly what Kevin/Town should be looking to replicate. Even at the best stadiums and biggest clubs they look to make the stadium a hub and increase revenues from non-match day activities. Hotels, restaurants and bars, arcades or general recreation/fun activities are needed and makes it more attractive as a place for weddings, conferences etc. that will bring more revenue. Throw in that Huddersfield doesn’t have very much going for it, and Kirklees working at snails pace for their vision for the town centre, a redevelopment around the stadium could be huge for the Town as a whole.

Kev comes across as a humble guy for all his money. Seems genuine and could imagine him being great company with a few ales/wines.

Please don't refer to real life experiences as being "biased/prejudiced/racist", trying to genuinely invest in another country does not imply such, quite the opposite in fact! However, my principles of fairness & equality, will not allow me to be ripped-off by such attempts at illegal activities, so 'stuff them' at the end of the day. If they, or you, don't want me to refer to such genuine experiences then they shouldn't engage in them!

Fair play to DH for selecting the best custodian after the PH disappointment

Those who were critical of lack of communication from the top at any point should be celebrating the willingness to be open, to the extent that they can, even if we acknowledge it's clever marketing.

Thought not My last comment now on this aspect of my post about stadium design which was hijacked... I applaud your post on stadium investment, but you go into totally inappropriate defence of the indefensible. It may be seen as a hijack, but in reality business profitability is required for such stadium investments to be productive in the longer term. I had to withdraw from an investment in Bulgaria, 2 levels better than Albania in the 2023 study, because I could not control a project by doing things correctly - in contact to locals who could by playing the corruption game. I'm not "going off on one" or being "biased, racist, prejudiced"! I'm simply stating fact from personal experiences of pursuing a totally unbiased, attempt to invest abroad, having researched Albania, Romania, Bulgaria, France, Belgium, German, Italy, Netherlands & Austria. I got unintentionally involved in a fraud in Germany, by a British person I trusted, for context. Suffered massive prejudice in France, ripped off in Italy and France. My number one choice was Romania, as a small attempt to offset the Ceaușescu effect, although unsuccessful I did end up with my best ever employee who had the highest integrity. Albania was the bottom of my researched list due to the documented threat & uncertainty of corruption and the lack of reliable business structures for overseas investors, so I ended up in Bulgaria. So forgive me for trying to add a little context despite never having been to Albania.

Albanian mafia "Associate groups within the organizations are said to hide their criminal activities within restaurants, bars, and clubs in an attempt to remain undercover." e.g. grey economy potential around the national stadium?
