aanyone going to peterborough on saturday i would defo recomend a drink or couple of hours in stamford,i work there quite regulary and its a lovely town.then as you go to peterborough theres a fine sam smiths pub called the botolph that stands back in lovely grounds off the main road or the gordon arms which is green king.stamford for us,setting off at 11.30 am and hope to see a few town fans along the way utt.also the pub opposite the ground more or less is charters,a massive beer garden and a barge as the bar, abit pricey but nice Isn't Stamford also of historical interest for any history buffs going to the game? Isn't it (or the area) the site of a number of battles between us and Vikings, us and Normans and a whole host of others? Or is that a different Stamford? You maybe thinking of Stamford bridge up by York

You maybe thinking of Stamford bridge up by York not sure about that but think it holds a record for a town with the most churches You are thinking of Stamford Bridge I reckon. Stamford itself is of historical interest though. Lord Burghley’s almshouses are there, if I’m thinking of the right place, as is his residence. For those interested in some late-Tudor sightseeing!

You maybe thinking of Stamford bridge up by York Aaah, yeah I remember now because first time I heard of Stamford Bridge I wondered if Chelsea's ground was named after it until I saw how far away Stamford Bridge was from London I think I remember something about the town of Stamford during War Of The Roses (not the film ) though, that'll be where I'm getting mixed up. I've said it on other threads, I really need to stop having multiple history books on the go at once

Abroad at the moment and want to buy the match pass to watch the game. I'll be paying from an English account and an English home address etc will it still allow me to access the match? Assuming people have done this before. We were able to do this in the USA last year and in South Korea in September 2022 although, from memory, we had to pay using PayPal as when we tried to use our credit card it got blocked.

The Battle of Stamford Bridge is the last battle involving the Vikings on British soil and their last invasion of the British Isles too. Led by Harald Hardrada to exert his claim on the crown they were defeated by Hardrada's half bro Harold Godwinson who promptly made his way down to Hastings where he succumbed to the Normans and William the Bastard, with an arrow through his eye, immortalised in the Bayuex Tapestry.

Most unusually of all, we took all three points!

You maybe thinking of Stamford bridge up by York Stamford is a beautiful Town, surprisingly in Lincolnshire, ( or it was, I'm not interested in any of this re-arranged boundaries shit, ) But it's not at all like a lot of the County. Due to holidays not being abroad much for us 50s kids, places like Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and the East Riding have special memories for many of us. Specifically, Brid, Mablethorpe, Bakewell and I'll include Skeggy, though it was never a favourite of mine. Met a lass in Mablethorpe from Lincoln itself, and spent weeks hitching down there to continue seeing her.......even sleeping rough for a couple of nights. Love the place. I'll be in Lincoln, 13th to 20 Sept, not to see the lass of course having been married over 50 years, but a week on my own.

That isn’t the case now - if you are abroad you can pay for and watch the stream, no problem.

Right,I’m going to go for a prediction. At very least it will rule out for everyone else backing this result bet wise. Town 3-1,go 2-0 up by half time, they peg one back and then we get 3rd with 15 minutes to go as they push for equaliser. Healey, wiles and an evans free kick…👀

Still got nowher near good enough options in the forward areas, so going for a 2-0 loss to start the season.

The injured party then kicked the range rover damaging the rear door but causing injury to his other foot. Not sure the ambulance came for the run over foot, the self inflicted foot injury or both??? We lost 3 0 so it was the only entertainment of the day..😔

Was it Cambridgeshire in the old traditional counties? It was known as "The soke of Peterborough" and was in Northamptonshire for many centuries I remembered the term soke of Peterborough, but admit to looking the rest up. For many centuries, the city and its surroundings, as the Soke of Peterborough, were part of the historic county of Northamptonshire, but had an independent county council between 1889 and 1965. The city formed part of the short-lived Huntingdon and Peterborough between 1965 and 1974. Stamford I'm pleased to say is still in Lincolnshire, but very different to the rest of the County.

We were in the standing terrace (similar Cowshed) behind the goal for the play off 1st leg in 92' & it was absolutely packed tight that night, the following times we went you could wander around freely.......I think the home fans use it now (still standing?).
