I’ll don my tin hat, but we look better without Helik. He’s got a goal in him (at both ends!), but he’s as meek as hell. Much rather have a warrior like Pearson in there. Two relegations on his CV say no more.

To any supporter of either team who went to this great respect to you all, even bigger respect if you go watch the under 21s game, i know this reserve team is a common thing in the European leagues, we got Dortmund B boss and it brought great times, money talks now and it is killing the game, i would not watch a game in this competition until it returned to its original format, if i was a Leyton Orient fan in a flat with a stadium view blinds be shut. Also bring back lace up balls and pass backs to the keeper (who'll be wearing a flat cap).

So Town have to beat Man Utd under 21s, to progress in the competition unless the Massive South Yorkshire derby result does Town a favour should they lose, Town have beat the 1st team 2-1 quite recently, the stadium should sell out for this amazing clash, what a money spinner this amazing competion is👍👍 Int sarcasm brilliaaaaaaant (c) Fast Show

Good to see Healey back on the pitch getting minutes. Kane, Radulovic and Ladapo will have benefitted fitness wise aswell.
Decent workout, performance and result.
After a dismal set of results we look to be pointing in the right direction again.

I'll PM you my address and you can tape 50p to a bit of card and post it out to me. First Class? £1.65 to send 50p. Sounds about right for modern day UK

I do also think duff altering the midfield setup has made a difference. Instead of the one deep lying and two pushed high up the pitch we’ve gone more conventional with one playing more as a 10 and the other two sitting deeper but taking it in turns to be the one to go join in. It clearly wasn’t working with the initial setup, mainly because we just couldn’t get the ball to them as teams started sitting in on them and the spaces were so tight.Maybe in a top end champ team that could work with better quality on the ball in all areas. What it’s done changing though is made it easier for the deeper players to get on the ball as 2 instead of 1 makes it harder to mark and also it’s given the wider centre halves more confidence to actually play that 5/10 yards wider when we have the ball and also carry it forward with the midfield insurance. It’s also counteracted that space behind the wing backs which was an easy out ball for sides. It’s meant overall that we seem to have more time on the ball and options when building the play so we’re not getting stuck with it at the back and inviting teams on and also because more options were moving the ball quicker. It just looks much more cohesive and the players look more comfortable. Add in that not only were we previously struggling to get the two high midfielders into the game with the ball but they were completely out of it defensively too making us easy to counter. I know folk weren’t happy with 3-5-2 but the tweaks made are making it work more effectively, although small sample size. If we could now improve final ball we might be able to enjoy the run up to Christmas!

Anyone else noticed that as far as Sky concerned we did not play this evening. Was same for saturday nothing about us. Focusing on the WSL these days, that's where all the interest is. Fans want to see how the big clubs are doing in the WSL not the men's lower leagues.

Longwijk and Spencer give us options as overlapping centre backs which adds a lot to our play. We look so much more fluid and cohesive. Actually looking like a football team which is a refreshing change.

Other than having more hair, Jon hasnt changed much... He is a moocher, he plays when the ball is near him. If others are not doing the running around him, he does not play much at all. We could not afford to play him and we were not a bad side at the time, Barnsley are shit. It demonstrates how good a coach Carlos is that Russell and, to a lesser extent, High, were part of his play-off team in the Championship, the only season, so far, where we got better results without Hoggy than with him. Russell has done nothing anywhere else, his half-season in 2022 reminiscent of Paul Dalton in the Great Escape season. Edit: that's two players in a team of 'very good for Town for too short a time and never did much anywhere else'. Can't immediately think of another in the past 60 years.

Agreed,it’s early days against what looks like a poor side in Barnsley but I think it’s the way forward. It just seems to get more out of everyone rather than relying on producing a very specific thing to get the two 8’s into the game! Think in the past duff has been defined by his pressing off the ball and doing it that way which would have worked with the two higher up the pitch. The thing is at town he’s now at a side in this division who will dominate the ball a fair amount and against teams that won’t want to have it,meaning we need to be setup to build play not nick it off a side that you can’t press because they don’t want the ball.Glad he’s realised, utt

The one problem for me is Iorpenda, I still say he should have gone on loan, not because he's not good enough for our squad now but he's behind Hogg, Evans, Wiles, Kasumu & Hodge in the pecking order. With 6 outfield players on the bench, 2 of them defenders, 2 forwrads, thats only room for 5 midfielders, 3 starters, 2 on the bench, unless there's an injury Iorpenda will just not get enough game time.

Agreed, but players can come through unexpectedly; Jon Russell in 2021-22 is just one example.

Well, I guess it depends how many internationals they field!! If their young ones are any good, they would more than likely be out on loan. If The Young Ones are any good? It's the best sitcom there has ever been!!!

I can see the sense in keeping him here for now. Get him used to Duff's way of playing and also training alongside better players should serve him well, and he's not yet at an age where I'd have alarm bells about him not getting regular first team football. However I do wonder if a loan in January might be worthwhile. Either to a promotion chasing Lg2 side or a lower end Lg1 team ideally. Having him come back from (e.g.) Leyton Orient or Notts County ready to push for a first team berth next season is quite an exciting prospect.

First time around I was about 6 or 7 (I had older cousins), then repeats were on telly about 10-15 years later and I loved it because I got all the jokes that had gone over my head first time around. Part of me wants to watch it again to prove you wrong (and enjoy it again in its own right!), the other part says don't, as it would spoil the memory.

I watched one recently and was thinking 'Really?? This is truly dreadful!' Groundbreaking at the time maybe but IMO it's not aged well in the way something like Father Ted has.

He may have told us he has no plans to renew so we’ve decided not to involve him too much. Probably not the case but it would explain his lack of involvement which I agree should be more than it is currently.

I'd say it's more likely that we've spent good money on Evans and he's ahead in the 'pecking order'. Management is about managing egos and getting the right spirit in the team, he might think it's better to give Evans more chances before promoting Iorpenda ahead of him - in terms of general morale and happiness in the camp as well as for Evans specifically. Not saying I agree specifically, but it seems like he did something like that with Hogg at the start of the season.

One of the funniest things last night... Hogg finding himself in the right wingback position, bursting forward and putting great crosses in.
