Just for anyone who cares: Barnsley play Doncaster on 29th October. Town play Man United U21s on 12th November. If Barnsley win in 90 minutes, we qualify by avoiding defeat in 90 minutes. If Barnsley win on penalties, we either have to win on penalties AND score 3 more goals than Donny, or win in 90 minutes. If Donny win (either in 90 minutes or penalties), we have to win in 90 minutes to qualify. That's clear as mud, isn't it? We should be battering an under 21 side, I don't care if they are Man U Well, I guess it depends how many internationals they field!!

Men v Boys that tonight. Don't know any of the barnsley players so not sure how much they changed Seven of their starting eleven were in their squad on Saturday. Two started and five played. It was fringe players mostly, but hardly a bunch of kids. But it really was a gulf in class. We weren’t really at it, we had about three or four more gears to shift into, but we eased past them.

Good performance overall. Kane looked the part, Evans put a shift in, Bojan and Freddie had another good game. Have we turned a corner? Who knows but it was good to see us build some confidence and momentum thanks to two sub-standard Barnsley teams. Noted Jon Russell still has the engine of a dead snail. Don't see anything Evans actually contributes tbh. I've gone right off him last 6-7 games since I started to focus on him.

So Town have to beat Man Utd under 21s, to progress in the competition unless the Massive South Yorkshire derby result does Town a favour should they lose, they have beat the 1st team 2-1 quite recently, the stadium should sell out for this amazing clash, what a money spinner this amazing competion is👍👍 It's a kick in the balls playing their kids, wasn't that long ago we beat the real Man United. I know the name doesn't carry the weight it once did. Man utd might play their 1st team like they did against Barnsley...

I was one of the 2182 in attendance and thought it was a decent dominant performance, we played dome decent stuff, in context, as Barnsley were even worse than they were in Saturday.
We still lack cutting edge, finding that decisive pass in the final 3rd, we're guilty of over playing and over passing in key areas.

Just seen Ward's goal and he looks offside, good finish though. Most people won't like this but the guy is still the best finisher at the club.

Why is Evans so obsessed with dropping it on top of the keeper? How about giving our players a chance to win it It’s a deliberate ploy before they shake it up one in every 3 or so. The reason being is because, more often than not, it’s been proven to cause panic and the second ball drops kindly. You will see the same of the first post. The chances created from that statistically outweigh the chance that an opportunity is created for a player directly. Evans is most certainly our best set piece player, but in his place, Miller, Wiles and Barnsley all did the same on Sat. I could show you some statistics that would ruin any enthusiasm you had for corners. More of than not, they’re not an advantage. Especially in the modern game. The same can be said for defending corners and not having an outlet on halfway too. At the risk of sounding like a total nerd, I'd like to see those stats on corners. My impression is they are likely more useful the lower down the leagues you go. I'd love to know the truth.

Poor opposition tonight but wins build confidence, which is an absolute priority in our case. Bojan is slowly starting to look more the part, and Duff's post-match comments regarding both the journey Lonwijk has been on recently and how he's responded to our run of poor results were very interesting. I still have faith in Duff, he's definitely a big step up on the last two crackpots we've had at the helm; although I suspect Breitenreiter was the right man just at completely the wrong time. I just hope Duff eventually proves that he doesn't just talk the talk.

Agreed but Kane is improving and is looking more like a person that can find the link between midfield and the strikers. Hard to judge anything on tonight as BFC were not good.

Very dominant display but id agree its that final pass or shot that keeps letting us down. Should have been 5 or 6 nil really. But winning becomes a habit and it was good two strikers got the goals. A boost to see healey and ward back playing. Thought Bojan looked decent again with good link up play and Iorpenda looks a real prospect.

A number of times our front 2 made decent runs but we were too slow on the ball and missed the opportunity to play them in.
We always seem to take the extra touch, rather than play the killer ball.
I'm sure as Kane and maybe even Iorpenda get more minutes, the strikers will have more joy.

Men v Boys that tonight. Don't know any of the barnsley players so not sure how much they changed Jon Russell? Other than having more hair, Jon hasnt changed much... He is a moocher, he plays when the ball is near him. If others are not doing the running around him, he does not play much at all. We could not afford to play him and we were not a bad side at the time, Barnsley are shit.

Both of those games were literally broadcast live on Sky, not sure what you're on about? I know exactly what he's on about. Go on Sky now look up football, results and yesterday and you'll find they're not bloody listed. Was same on Saturday. Reason I noticed, is because I go on there usually to see the two minutes of highlights just by clicking on the result. I did find the highlights Saturday eventually, but I have no idea why they're not including ours in the list of results?

Last couple of results better and also performances.I’d even throw in that reading was a better performance than what we had seen for the previous few weeks. I didn’t think I’d be saying this but having Pearson back there has us looking much more assured,we are doing the basics better. We also seem to be moving the ball much quicker through the thirds,I think that has been helped by having hodge and then Kane in the side. The final ball generally isn’t there yet though and that needs to improve,as does our conversion from corners. We’ve had 40 corners in the last 4 games..if you take out Birmingham we’ve had 37 across the two Barnsley games and reading and never looked like scoring, that said Barnsley are a huge side so maybe take that into account. Bojan and ladapo won’t play together often but if both can get up to speed soon they could be useful options.Hopefully Healey can stay bloody fit also, the little touch, shift and strike he had he looked pretty sharp. All in all I think we looked much quicker and sharper in general the last couple of games.I’m hoping that’s due to adding some pace into the side and some confidence coming back and not just Barnsley being a bunch of cloggers. It’s something to build on anyway with some decent looking fixtures on paper coming up(though I said that before Northampton,Blackpool and reading) Last thing I noticed was just before the players came out for the second half,Helik and balker walked out together to take their seats, balker didn’t look to have a cast of any description nor any crutches,I’m hoping that maybe he’s progressing quicker than hoped.

It's weird to think he justifiably kept Carel Eiting out of the side for a while. Impressive ability from Carlos to get that out of him. O'Brien did all the donkey work to make Russell look good. Yep. Putting Russell in a midfield that contained Lewis O'Brien and a younger Jonny Hogg (i.e. players whose attributes masked his failings) was a big part of how Carlos got that out of him. FTR I felt even at the time that Eiting was better and should have been used more, but the difference wasn't night and day and, well, we were getting results so I wasn't going to complain!
