I can\t honestly believe that some supporters don't trust Dean to do the right thing regarding the memorabilia. It seems it's ok for him to risk his small fortune on trying to get HTAFC where we all think they belong but when HTSA are asking if we should sell to Dean and then Dean will leave the memorabilia to HTAFC then supporters have a problem. I've had debates with supporters asking what if Dean dies and what if we need money sometime in the future? Well all i can say is that it is a good job Dean didn't have as much apprehension when he bought the club and is now investing heavily into the legacy which will be the canalside. It really does beggar belief sometime.. You've totally missed the point Bro, as highlighted by one or two others. The point is why would HTSA sell an asset that can only grow in value (imagine what the memorabilia might be worth on the 100th anniversary of our historic triple Championship compared to what it's worth now?) and plough the money into a statue that will be worth absolutely nothing once it's been bought? Deano's motives are not being questioned at all - as far as most people are concerned the bloke is an absolute hero.

Yes, I took out life membership of the Survival Trust at the Town Hall meeting in 2003 and have voluntarily paid my annual subs since the Supporters Trust has been formed. At this point in time i'd like to point out that HTSA formally agreed to help fund a statue in 2009 ....12 months before this proposal. So the statue funding is not something thrown at HTSA because Dean is buying the memorabilia but something that the club put to HTSA at an earlier date. I'd also like to point out that the club have already invested a lot of time and expense on the memorabilia issue.

It certainly wasn't "pointed out" at the 2010 AGM held in Halifax

Thats what i was told and that it didn't matter if Town bought the Billy Smith collection or not because they were already planning to go down another route. Still no answer as to why the committee said no in the first place and then had another change of heart in the new year.

Can people stop referring to a vote. 42 people expressed an opinion to the idea. Nobody has been given the chance to vote on anything.

Well all i can say is that it is a good job Dean didn't have as much apprehension when he bought the club and is now investing heavily into the legacy which will be the canalside. It really does beggar belief sometime.. It's not a question of not trusting Dean with the memorabilia it is about the way this has been (mis)handled by HTSA and also the long term future long after Dean is no longer the custodian of our great club. Every single supporter of Huddersfield Town owes a massive debt of gratitude to Dean Hoyle for coming in rescuing us from the dark dark days of the Davy regime and investing significant amounts of his personal fortune in taking this club to the next level on and off the pitch. We are extremely lucky to have a wealthy true Town fan as owner and Chairman of Huddersfield Town Football Club. I have no doubt that the football club is in extremely safe hands and the future is very bright with Dean at the helm. Dean Hoyle is however only the current custodian of our club and HTSA have a responsibility not only to the the thousands of current Town fans but the thousands that have gone before and the thousands in the future generations to come. HTSA and the current committee are only custodians of the money that has been raised and the memorabilia collection that was purchased. The money and the collection belongs to every single Town fan from the past, present and future. There have been a number of questions asked in this thread and the original thread that have either not been answered at all or not answered with any degree of certainty. Do HTSA and its committee see itself as representing only the HTSA membership or every single Town supporter? The Memorabilia sale and likely subsequent spending on the statue is very important but more importantly is the whole function of the HTSA going forward. I admire anyone who puts in their time and effort for no reward and a lot of hassle but I think even committee members must agree this whole situation could have been handled a lot better. What steps are going to be taken to make sure key decisions are considered and made correctly in the future with consultation of the wider Town supporter base? To sell a collection of memorabilia that has a tangible and hopefully appreciating value and spend that money on a statue that has little tangible value is a very questionable decision in my mind. I can understand the school of thought that its getting sold to Dean who is giving it to the club and things are very rosy at the moment but who knows what will happen years down the line long after Dean is no longer the custodian of Huddersfield Town football club. Surely HTSA having cash and assets that can be liquidated easily and quickly if required is a fundamental function of their very existence. I just think that for a decision of this magnitude and future decisions of this magnitude or of even greater importance to be made by a undemocratically elected committee and ratified by 90% of 42 Town fans is not the best way of safe guarding Huddersfield Town Football Club for past, present and future generations.

Still no answer as to why the committee said no in the first place and then had another change of heart in the new year. Because the original vote was taken on a one line proposal. "Dean buys the memorabilia and the money goes towards a statue." The Committee were then reminded that the statue proposal was made in 2009 and there was another meeting with the club where things were made a little clearer. Dean himself states he won't buy the memorabilia if enough people disagree with it.. So here is your chance.

handled disgracefully! Bro as bridge said no ones questioning Dean but when he gets kissed to death by jimmymac when we get promoted and theres no legal paper work putting it back to the club/fans what happens then? also on the last thread some members of the htsa commitee said there would be a vote on this and this was only feedback. what happened to the vote? Scissett, I met you last Saturday and you had the perfect opportunity to grill me on the subject then, And I would have gladly answered anything I could. why didn't you? How do you know Dean Hoyle hasn't any legal paperwork drawn up for this project? Do you know something no one else does? As for the vote, it was the committee who voted on whether to sell or not. As that vote was a majority it was then put out for all members to get involved and have their say on the matter. If the majority had voted against the sale then things would be different. But they didn't. LBT Nice to meet you at the game but what would the point of me grilling you? I’d already asked all the questions on here and very few were answered and several had contradicting answers. The legal paper issue was raised time and again and the response was not forthcoming, if one was to be put in place why not say so? You yourself also said there would be a vote, where is it? I’m not having a pop at you, and you’re not the only one but with the contradictions going on it didn’t appear anyone on the committee knew what was going on. Just who was in control of the situation? Because from where I’m standing it looks a shambles IMO HTSA have done nothing here other than damage their reputation further but at least justified my reasoning for not putting my money in and staying away from it until it does change. To note I was ready to join for one year to have a vote on this issue. Full respect for those who do get involved but while certain people are round who think they are bigger than HTSA you’ve no chance.

Town said yes but i quick decision was needed but no actual deadline was set.

Not far off Bridge. But the club never responded to HTSA saying "NO" they just got on with plans of their own for showing the memorabilia that they possess. The initial proposal was always being questioned and the chance arose at a meeting to elaborate on the proposal which the club did. Then HTSA had a re-think.

I replied to Bob Pepper saying I wasn't opposed to selling the memorabilia to Deano BUT did not like HTSA being told/feeling forced as to what to spend the money on.
I didn't pay my subs for the last X years, or put money into collections etc at the time of administration for it just to be spent on a statue. Waste of money IMO

Right as a pointer if anyone thinks HTSA's handling of the situation has been poor or not what it should be then look here www.supporters-direct.org/publications/index.asp?dc=sd_aboutsts you will find out if the right and proper procedure has been adhered to. Alternativly call 020 7273 1532and one of the case workers will be happy to speak to you. Personaly I am not against the sale of the BSM. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I said when I recieved the email from HTSA that it was no way clear enough. Asking for feedback is not akin to asking people to vote on a major issue for the organisation.
To me it looks like the committee voted yes then had an half arsed communication to the members asking for feedback and sliding it through the back door. The rushed timescale and poor communication all point to this.
A clear and unanimous vote from all supporters should and would have prevented all this....
There wasn't even a poll put up on here to see the vote.... :shake:
