Anyway, back to Kasumu - is he a good player or a bit ropey? He’s good when fit but his hamstrings are fraying a bit.

From what I can make out he's like a cross between Hogg & o'Brien.

From what I can make out he's like a cross between Hogg & o'Brien. Would make sense I guess, partner him alongside Russell and free up a midfield position for someone more attack minded. As much as Hogg had a good season last year, he is getting older and might not be able to keep playing at the high intensity forever.

Agree with this completely.a mcatee type playing with those two could work.also wouldn’t be surprised to see Hogg drop into a back 3 again as he did back end of last season. That said I half wrote him off last summer as thought Carlos would overlook him due to his lesser ability on the ball, but he plays him without fail if fit.

Yup it’s the direction I hope we go too, we’d be a lot more dynamic and playing on the front foot if that was the case.

From Twitter:- Aqib @aqibali297 · 21m David Kasumu. Huddersfield have agreed a small fee for Nigerian Midfielder Kasumu. Huddersfield “closing in” on deal for former MK Dons player. So we may get one player in this week. This kid knows the square root of fuck all. ‘Lads trying to chance his arm at being a journo. Him and his mate ‘Dr Nose’. P.S. ‘Terriers Talk’ also knows fuck all (reporting the same thing). 😉😉😉

I see him as less of a successor to Hogg or O'Brien, more of a foil to Russell, who broke through in such an impressive manner last season that the midfield should really be built around him. This looks like a great first step. Russell is terrific at dictating tempo, creativity, calmness, etc, but his glaring weakness at the moment is dealing with balls played behind him and general defensive mobility. If LOB goes this summer, Kasumu next to Russell would minimise this issue lot without compromising as much on how we can build attacks from midfield.

No. It says it isn’t an issue. He's a free agent Development cost I believe due to his age. Hence it’s just a small sum. And, if true, looks a snip.

I am a little concerned about his injury record so I would consider him available for 50% of games. This is not too bad as I assume he arrived at a good rate allowing us to get in another one so we have the cover we need.

We will have to pay training compensation due to his age. So he runs his contract down and it formally ends yesterday. We sign him today when he is unattached and we still have to pay his old club some compensation?

We sign him today when he is unattached and we still have to pay his old club some compensation? It's "training compensation" and forms part of the fifa regulations for the transfer of young players. Put simply before a player turns 23, if he's transferred either in or out of contract. The club who trained the player from youth is entitled to claim some level of compensation. How much that becomes can be changed by a number of factors, in this particular case the fact his contract ran down is likely a big factor in it being only 60k and not like 250k. What is and isn't eligible can be a bit murky and that's why sometimes with young player transfers you might here about "tribunals" to determine comp. Article here about it that explains www.lawinsport.com/topics/item/a-guide-to-training-compensation-and-solidarity-payments-in-football

My perspective is that if we run an exceptionally tight ship under Dean Hoyle, I very much doubt that some kid in India has the inside track on Towns transfer dealings and most probably takes guesses from on here....or have a platinum account to the NewsNetworks. Interesting that they posted this (note the topic of convo). They clearly have an interest in all things DATM. And have more intel than Steve Chicken 😂
