Cricket ground is still there (Darlington CC) the football ground is now a new housing estate. Don't forget Darlo built a brand new stadium (Darlington Arena) which is now used only by the RU club.......Also a stone throw away from a street named 'Emley Moor Road' (Darlington). Thanks for the info irverino. Was just wondering where the new incarnation of Darlington FC play these days. I think they are in Conference North. So no need for a 25,000 seater stadium😉 I well remember them from youthful days before the pyramid system came into play and the odd time Feethams Crescent was on The English footy on The Irish TV before we got The Scottish TV... I remember it had a kinda ‘Cowshed’ type end at the ground somewhere and then looked at pics and it brought back memories from around 42 years ago ! Hed a look at their history and bloody hell - Huddersfield Town are Real Madrid in comparison so we are... They seem to be in The National League North (6th Tier) now after being EXPELLED from The Leagues and forced to start again as Darlington 1883 but have been allowed to go back to their old name of Darlington with FC added... They had to move out of Darlington for a few years but have managed to get back to a place called Blackwell Meadows in Darlington itself which is quite nice for them and I think they share that with a rugby club... But my goodness - Sure we (rightly) wailed, bitched and moaned about last season’s self inflicted shit-show but bloody hell we have a helluva way to go before we find ourselves where These poor Quackers fans find themselves for sure... Small mercies 🙏 and all that ! 😊

I've always wondered what emley did with all money from Fa cup and fa vase runs as the stadium isn't at a very good standard.

I've always wondered what emley did with all money from Fa cup and fa vase runs as the stadium isn't at a very good standard. Nowhere near enough money in a cup run to build new stands, etc. There’s only enough money if you get to the semis of the FA Cup. Good for wage subsidies, a couple of cup runs might let you bring in another player or two on loan or on a free transfer, but even at that level it’s a myth that the prize money is life-changing. Not sure what a club would get for a second round run in 1997/98, but today you’d bag about £100,000. Can’t build a ground on that.

I drove through Emley recently for the first time in years and was surprised. The place in no longer a rough old mining village but a middle class hideaway from the rougher parts of West Yorkshire. ‘Towering’ above it’s westerly neighbours then goodbet ! 😉 Well it gives us all a good picture!

I've always wondered what emley did with all money from Fa cup and fa vase runs as the stadium isn't at a very good standard. At that time I think they were playing in Wakefield and may have had a big rent bill to pay with that money. The move to Wakefield came after the famous FA Cup run, and after they came within 90 minutes of being in the fifth (or sixth?) tier of English football. Trinity probably did charge them a fair bit for use of the ground, as they weren't exactly in great shape financially themselves. The current Emley is a separate entity though, albeit the spiritual successor.

Was 1-0 Emley when the game was stopped after 35 mins & a decent game with Emley the slightly better team, big crowd too. Good to see the ground improvements Emley have made over the summer following promotion.
Brighouse keeper came out of his area to challenge for a high ball but took the Emley player out & landed badly, looked to be a serious back or neck injury which obviously you can take no chances with. Waited 45 mins then game abandoned with no sign of an ambulance coming anytime soon. Hope the lads ok

Despite an all out 2nd half attack Emley could not find the equaliser to force a replay in reply to Morpeth going ahead & having a man sent off on the stroke of half time......Brighouse Town at home will now be replayed on Tuesday 17th September @7-45pm, this game will be FREE entry for everyone.
