Hello all......
Can you help? For the last 15 seasons or so I have travelled up from Chester with my brother for home games and we always stop at Reed Street Fisheries in Marsh
This season is a little different as my 5 year old has his First season ticket and will often travel with us to saturday afternoon games.
He LOVES his fish and chips but I'm not sure he will want to eat it off a tray in the back of the car like we normally do.
Can anyone recommend a good fish and chip shop that has seating indoors and is accessible from either Junction 23 or 24 on the M62
Thanks in advance :-)
Rich

Only my opinion but the best chippies don’t have seating. Golden Fish at Liversedge used to be ok but not been for years. 10 minutes from ground. Mother Hubbards close to town but the area itself is pretty run down. Can’t really think of any decent sit in chippies. Good luck 👍

Golden Fish at Liversedge (as per joeyjoneslocker) is pretty good, as is Millbridge just a bit further down. Although I'd say both were a lot further than 10 minutes from the ground unless he meant Liversedge FC. You can sit down in Golden Fish, not in Millbridge, but Millbridge's food is better than Golden Fish recently. Liversedge is between Huddersfield and L***s, pretty much halfway if my maths is right.

Millbridge is decent to be fair. They've got some sit in seats down the side too. That blues fish bar used to be great at the bottom of norristhorpe lane but we had it a few weeks ago and it was terrible.

Really? 😀 We sometimes go to Whiteleys (Mirfield) garden centre. It’s 5 minutes from Leeds Rd playing fields in a car. I’d say Golden Fish is 5 minutes in a car from Whiteleys. That being said, I’m talking Sundays when the roads are quiet.

I need sometihng that we either drive past and can stop or is walking distance from the ground
The Mother Hubbards suggestion is the best so far. Half a mile walk away from where we usually park (opposite the Vulcan)

We don't do fish and chips but my son is used to eating sandwiches in the car.

Half a mile walk away from where we usually park (opposite the Vulcan) If you aren’t willing to veer slightly off then it’s the only choice. Or go in to town centre and get what you want, unless there are mobility issues

There's a family friendly pub (Golden Fleece) just off J24 eastbound, the do really good proper fish and chips. Slip road, first left, past the cricket club, first left, follow the lane a short distance.

Blakeleys in Brighouse are good. Do gluten free as well.

But I can’t think of any chippy that way where you can sit. So I was trying to think of an alternative if they are driving

Mother Hubbards is crap and in a shithole area. Best bet for sitting in fish and chips is Brighouse.

Bet it’s slow going on a Saturday afternoon The A62 is a nightmare on matchdays, I live in Batley town and going through Dewsbury and Mirfield used to be the way. Since they started digging up the railway, it's no better trying to get through Ravensthorpe- so I drive up past IKEA and get on the M62

Blakeleys in Brighouse is simply the best around here imo. They have a seated area inside and out and if the weather is good, there’s loads of room by the canal.

Literally 5 minutes from Kirkheaton to park at Bradley Mills Rd then walk down. Sunny weather I’d walk it. Long time ago we travelled from Golcar and it was a bit of a pain but nothing like what some of you guys and girls go through with traffic.

It's a lot easier missing cooper Bridge. 25 mins in total usually.

I can’t comment on anything in Huddersfield but steer clear of the golden fish it’s terrible imo. If you ever do get stuck in a situation where they’ve pre-fried the fish for you (like they do at the golden fish) to ensure it represents a fish finger that was cooked days ago request a lightly battered fish. It usually does the trick but you have to be willing to walk away to force their hand!

So I’ll be there for a while coming over from Austria on the 29th.
Fam coming with, my only experience so far is Murgatroyd’s, which we loved.
Is there another you’d recommend more?

To get the real best fish and chips, I always love the east coast, if you have enough time. There is a place in Flamborough called The Lighthouse and it is by far the best I've had.

Blakeleys at Brighouse has a dine in. Still rather have Field Lane at Rastrick with a tray though!
